1984 politics is extremely interesting because it shows you what could have been if the world went in a slightly different direction and how different world power would be placed on the political spectrum. The political spectrum is a spectrum which can help you understand different political ideals by using a graph and weather a party is left, right, authoritarian or libertarian. The difference between the left and the right can be oversimplified to show that the left in a government is more likely to support people and have equality for everyone but have higher taxes to pay for all the benefits people get. whereas the right would usually support people making money by themselves and giving no handouts but with less taxes for people and businesses. Another measure used to convey where a government sits on the political spectrum is authoritarian and libertarian. authoritarianism is the y axis on the graph or is at the top and is a government where an authority or a dictator is in complete control, quite like 1984. Libertarianism is on the bottom of the spectrum and is a society with ultimate freedom, little to no rules but is nothing like Ingsoc. I am quite confidently claiming that the 1984 English Socialist Party is a middle-left authoritarian government.

Thank you for posting your response regarding your knowledge on the political spectrum, left and right wing politics, and authoritarian versus libertarian governments. I see you also made a prediction based on your knowledge, as to what government type Ingsoc is from the novel “1984.” Here are my observations on your work:
– You explain the terms quite well in your own words, well done!
– You have properly pinpointed the correct location on the 4 quadrants based on Orwell modelling Ingsoc after a socialist party with elements of Stalinism, meaning it should be in the top left quadrant
Thanks for your insight and participation,
