1.What type of gene mutation did scientists edit? Scientists edited the gene mutation known as Germ line Mutations.
2.What is a germ line mutation? How many do humans have? Germ line Mutations are mutations that are passed from generation to generation. Humans have thousands of Germ Line Mutations that case all kinds of different mutations.
3.Why do scientists perform gene therapy at the embryotic stage? What they are doing is before fertilization they identify a disease that is being passed down from generation to generation. Once they identify a disease they ask the male to donate his sperm. Once they have the sperm they look for a disease. After they find a disease they flag it by disrupting the diseases code. Then when it enters the females egg the egg will recognize that some genes have been disrupted the go about fixing it intern fixing the disease code.
4. Do you agree with the practice of humans altering genomes of species? Why or why not? I don’t know if I 100% agree with the practice of altering the human genomes but I definitely see the benefits. You could stop so many problems before they even happened. It’s hard to kind of rap your mind around. I would say that I’m leaning more to the agree then the disagree but I need to do some more research. What do you think?
