Tech Team 11

Tech Team December Reflection

What are some things you have learned and/or tasks you have accomplished so far this semester? Explain thoroughly (Use videos, pictures, upload materials etc. as evidence of learning in your blog)

Throughout this first semester some things I accomplished and was a part of was the Digital Bootcamp, I volunteered at the Wave to help others, I was able to learn new things for my own blog, and I continued to be a part of the Wall of Pride Team. I learned new things and tools and got to use my previously acquired skills and better them. Teamwork, communication, and problem solving were the skills I used the most and I believe all these will benefit me immensely in the future. Other skills and tools I’ve learned along the way have helped me with helping other students, peers, and teachers with technology issues and questions. In all, I believe Tech Team has taught me valuable skills and gave me all sorts of different and great opportunities.

What aspects of your work are successful? Explain why.

I believe my ability to problem solve helped a lot in my work while helping others as well as with the Wall of Pride Team. Some successful aspects include how the Wall of Pride Team was able to come together and figure out a base plan, name, all together by hearing each other out and figuring the process out together. I think as a team overall we were able to come together and really find a way to put something together but still let others take a part in the process, if they wanted to which is something great in my opinion.

What aspects of your work are challenging? Explain why.

Some challenging aspects include just finding time at lunch to be able to talk and plan with each other about the Wall of Pride. Everyone who is a part of the team is quite busy however, through good communication, we’re always somehow able to find time and plan things out which is a very useful skill for all of us to have. In the end, the challenges are what make the projects fun and what causes me to think on my feet, which I actually enjoy.

What steps did you take to overcome these challenges / what adjustments did you need to make?

The steps I’ve taken for some of the challenges that have come up include, scheduling different meetings and projects into my phone; my communication, creativity, and problem solving skills also have gotten better. I use them all the time to figure out, communicate, and create solutions to said problems/challenges.

Is there anything you can do improve? (with your approach to the project, or altering the project)

I think at the moment as the Wall of Pride Team moves on, we should focus on narrowing down a criteria, talking to other staff members for input, and also making plans on how to actually put in place said plan. After winter break, I think it’s necessary to take big steps and pick up speed on this project so we can hopefully make a complete draft and then start putting it in play at the end of this school year. For the next school year, we could actually have the wall in place with maybe a bit of candidates to be able to start showcasing it to the community.

Do you have any feedback or suggestions, as we move forward, that could help the Tech Team meet the needs of our school and staff / be more effective? (Provide specific examples)

I think Tech Team is doing pretty well but, I believe there should be more opportunities to support different people at Riverside because not everyone knows about the support we have in place already; I think we should somehow spread the word of how someone could get help and where when they need it. Another idea is also, teaching teachers about technology with little workshop so if anything does come up in class, they are able to help their students with at least hopefully the basic problems. In conclusion, I think we should expand our knowledge so that it isn’t only 30 people being great at helping with technological issues. Hopefully could have more and more people build problem solving skills to be able to help themselves, however still be able to ask others for help.
