Reflection:

How has the exploration of “The Crucible,” deepen your understanding of diverse, complex ideas about identity, others, and the world?

After listening to multiple presentations concerning The Crucible, I was able to see multiple themes in specific people, environments, and events today. With all the examples talked about I was able to better see how so many lessons underlie everything that we do, see, and how we act. It was every eye-opening because it changes my perspective. I believe this play is a “hyperbole” in a way of our society today with people putting their power, judgement, reputation, mentalities, and more into a specific way of learning and seeing things. Most people think they’re always right and don’t try and see the other perspective and I believe this is what this project has done; we must see our own truth in the matter, but then look for more to build up an honest and hopefully non-bias opinion view on certain world aspects. However, after all of this I still believe some people will only be set in their ways, which isn’t a terrible thing, but this is what makes our world so complex and diverse; it is because everyone choses their own way to look at something. Furthermore, when I was creating my project with my partner it opened up my view of how people actually think and how everyone is genuinely different because if I see something as the correct thing to do, someone else might see it differently. In conclusion, through the themes of this play and through examples in various projects, it opened up my perspective even more than before which I believe is an amazing thing to achieve by listening to various people’s presentations/perspectives.

How do you critically, creatively, and reflectively explore the ideas within, between, and beyond “The Crucible?

As my partner and I started to create our idea for the project we wanted it to be interactive and cause a discussion, so that’s exactly what we did. We created a small PowerPoint with examples of situations to cause a discussion among the students and cause critical thinking. I believe this was a very critical and creative way to come at a project, through the help of the class; however, my partner and I reflected during the process of making the examples and the connections with society today, but also back with The Crucible. In addition, after our presentation we received great feedback for next time and I believe that this feedback isn’t only a way to improve this presentation now, but cause us to think deeper and even more critically with future projects and presentations. In conclusion, this wasn’t a new application for a project, but it was a new way to use this application; also we critically and reflectively chose various examples and tied it back to the play and today; and lastly in the long run, I believe the constructive criticism will serve us well in the future.
