First Peoples Principles of Learning

First Peoples and their principles of learning are quite important because all their principles are there so you can succeed. They have four principles (which are not all of them) so that you can succeed in life on your own, which are generosity, independence, mastery, and belonging. This principles are there so that later in life, you are able to work by yourself and efficiently as well as feeling a part of the community and being to give to the community too. I believe these principles are very important and are there so you feel a sense of direction and progressiveness in your life, community, and with others.

Interconnectedness:

This image demonstrates interconnectedness because it shows how everything depends on one another and how they need each other to sustain. This image has some great examples of interconnectedness, such as if one of the roots separate or die off, the whole image would have to change because since each little thing depends on one another the roots, tree, leaves, and the rain would have a big problem. For example the core of the tree (the roots) would have to make sure the tree gets it’s nutrients, water, and more, whatever else it need to live; but if all the roots were dying are been cut off, then the tree would not be able to live, and it wouldn’t even matter if there were any rain because it would so no purpose for the dying tree, as well the leaves, at the leaves would die and all we would see was death, and this is how interconnectedness plays apart in learning and in general life. By that example you must now see how everything plays apart and how if we didn’t have one thing everything would suffer.

This is the same as in learning, we recently learned about the water, carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus cycles, each cycle depends on one anther and inside each cycle they have their own needs and dependabilities. Such as one example, the water cycle, there’s perception which depends on evaporation, evaporation depends on solar energy, and this keeps going, and if you take out one of those  out it would have major damage, on the environment, on other cycles , and on all the other  aspects of that cycle and the other cycle depending on it.

Sustainability:

Sustainability means, that you are able to to maintain a certain level or rate for a long period of time. Such as it means for the environment to maintain certain levels of natural resources, this gives quite a good example because sustainability to me, means that we must be able to have certain resources to have a balance in life and be able to preserve. This image shows that change, growth, understanding, and balance  can “give” us sustainability because all of these on the wheel represent something and they all find a balance with the wheel with it. Without all these, we can’t have a balance in our life, environment, and more because sustainability also relies on interconnectedness in a way and the same the other way around. I believe sustainability in these terms is talking about the environment and how it can stay balanced, and proper, and have an ecological balance.

We have learned a lot about sustainability, even though we might not have even known we learned about this exact principle of learning. One excellent example of sustainability in our ecological unit is when we learned about pollution, we found new ways to reduce pollution, we were able to put our plans in action step by step and find how this small project can sustain more natural resources. The new ways we could personally help the Earth helps us all because each little thing each person does adds up, good or bad. We can either help the Earth and sustain our natural resources and have an Earth with a balance and proper environments, or we can deprive our Earth and not have enough resources to sustain us all and run out of everything. Sustainability is needed everywhere, without balance or order there’s chaos and sustainability helps everyone and I believe this principle of learning is also a way of life, by being able to help our planet, which helps us.
