As a returning soldier, I would vote for liberal party. After World War I, the Canadian economy has been declined. The main problems in Canada were unemployment and a drop in manufacturing. So I am most care about the pension and the jobs. The liberal party focused on the development of economic of Canada, increased taxes and public debt. William Lyon Mackenzie King who is the leader of liberal party wanted to avoid having to stand behind a specific policy on the tariff. I would not vote for progressive party, because the progressive party had its base of support in western farmers. The leader of progressive party is Thomas Alexander Crerar. He supported abolishing the tariff. It may helpful to development of agriculture. However, it useless for Canada’s facing problem that Canadian economy and unemployment.
You would also probably agree with the Liberal’s pointing out the mismanagement of Canada after the war. It was the Union Government that gave soldiers nothing when they came back.
