Self Assesment and Goal Setting Assignment

Pillar One: Content Understanding

Current Strengths

My current strengths within content understanding lie in the area of physics and math. My strong points include demonstrating my understanding thoroughly in practice assignments and applying my problem-solving skills to questions. For example, I proficiently solved for unknown variables when I worked through complex physics problems in kinematics. Additionally, I always look forward to deepening my knowledge around new concepts by demonstrating interest in class assignments and labs. I show my understanding by collaborating with my peers on the whiteboards.

Future Growth

As I feel that I am proficient in my understanding, there is still lots of room for growth and improvement. I minimally put forward my ideas and thoughts out there for others to hear. I want to demonstrate a better understanding of math and physics concepts by contributing to class discussions. Furthermore, I feel as though I need improvement in the area of solving difficult and mind-bending math problems. I wish to apply my critical thinking skills more thoroughly to solve problems such as these.

Goals

  • I want to do more math/physics problems that are beyond what I am given in practice assignments to stretch my thinking and exersize my problem solving skills.
  • I want to push myself to study hard and raise my current percent average in math and physics by the end of this semester.

Revisiting Midterm Goal Setting

  • Throughout the end of my courses, I believe that I achieved my goal of completing more complex equations to exercise my problem-solving skills. For example, in my physics electricity unit, I did numerous challenging circuit problems online to challenge my knowledge and prepare for tests. Additionally, while I studied for my math final, I completed problems outside of what I was given in class to be fully prepared for the exam and improve my problem-solving skills. To achieve this goal, I had to make more time for myself to study after school. To do this, I made a schedule and a list to manage my time well.
  • Secondly, I achieved my second goal of raising my previous percent average in math and physics. They are both above my goal of 95%. I had to challenge myself and work hard in order to achieve this goal. Once again, I had to manage my time well at home so I could put aside times to study and focus on both subjects. My greatest challenge during the process of achieving this goal was staying on task and procrastinating. However, I made sure that all necessary material was covered before any tests so that I was prepared and confident for them. In future courses, I would like to create a goal regarding my mental and physical health in relation to school and work.
