Self-Assessment
Critical Thinking Core Competency
In science, I think critically by evaluating and using well-chosen evidence to develop interpretations; identify alternatives, perspectives, and implications; and make judgements. I show this by observing and identifying the chemical changes occurring in the bag of change lab. I was able to carefully observe and record my findings when I observed the substance progress through a chemical change. I made valid judgements and viewed the experiment through the different perspectives of my peers. Finally, I was able to come to conclusions when I answered the final questions of the lab assignment.
I can gather, select, evaluate, and synthesize information. I demonstrate these skills when I am doing a project or assignment that includes researching for information. For example, I gathered and evaluated information when I was doing the Elemental Sway Assignment. I researched and selected good information from creditable sources and put it into my own words. I can put together my findings from different sources and summarize them into an overall point.
Goals
One goal I have for this semester is to improve my study habits. I want to work on my time management and organize when and how I study. I can reach this goal by scheduling times to study and using a planner to keep track of all my homework and upcoming test. Another goal I have for this semester is to ask for help when I need it. I tend to do things on my own and forget that I always have a teacher or a peer-tutors who can help me. I can do this by remembering that I can use help when I face a difficult challenge. By achieving these goals, I can enhance and simplify my school experience and work towards building more goals in the future.
