This city is beauty
unbreakable and amorous as eyelids,
in the streets, pressed with fierce departures,
submerged landings,
I am innocent as thresholds
and smashed night birds, lovesick,
as empty elevators

let me declare doorways,
corners, pursuit, let me say
standing here in eyelashes, in
invisible breasts, in the shrinking lake
in the tiny shops of untrue recollections,
the brittle, gnawed life we live,
I am held, and held

the touch of everything blushes me,
pigeons and wrecked boys,
half-dead hours, blind musicians,
inconclusive women in bruised dresses
even the habitual grey-suited men with terrible
briefcases, how come, how come
I anticipate nothing as intimate as history

would I have had a different life
failing this embrace with broken things,
iridescent veins, ecstatic bullets, small cracks
in the brain, would I know these particular facts,
how a phrase scars a cheek, how water
dries love out, this, a thought as casual
as any second eviscerates a breath

and this, we meet in careless intervals,
in coffee bars, gas stations, in prosthetic
conversations, lotteries, untranslatable
mouths, in versions of what we may be,
a tremor of the hand in the realization
of endings, a glancing blow of tears
on skin, the keen dismissal in speed

1.The poem “From Thirsty” is a poem about a man, This man has experienced pain, not a physical pain but a mental pain, the pain of love being broken, the visions hovering over him on the edge But he is not enjoying the feelings, all he wants is peace and understanding.
2.This poem is a 3rd person poem as it is narrating about a man who is over looking his city. A city in Toronto Ontario in the early 2000 but as the man claims, the city never happend
3. note the diction (word choice) of the poet:
Word choice: fierce (abstract) she chose this word to add more effect to the poem and to make it more interesting one unfamiliar word is gentle, smashed (abstract) she used this word to make it more intense one unfamiliar word is hugged. Another word is inconclusive (concrete)she used this word to make it better than not leading to a firm conclusion an unfamiliar word is conclusive, gnawed (abstract) she used this word because it is really descriptive one unfamiliar word is chewed. Embraces (abstract) she used this word because it is a good word for that scenario an unfamiliar word for embraces is hates.
Denotation is the literal or dictionary meaning of the word
Connotation is the meaning that is implied by a word apart from the thing which it describes explicitly
The poem is free of cliches
4. Determine the tone of the poem:
the poem seems very serious but also contemplative with 5 stanzas the poem is serious because of the intense, descriptive and odd words. Words that set the tone are, beauty because it starts of the poem talking about something another word is fierce because it is intense and is more of a darker word, declare, it is descriptive. Also terrible, because it lets you know that something is really bad and is very intense. Embrace because it is much more joyful and upbeat than terrible. The tone changes quite frequently within the poem.
5. Determine the rhythmical devises used by the poet:
There are 5 stanzas and they are 7 lines each. There are no rhyme schemes in this poem or any rhymes at all.

7. When I read this poem it made me feel the emotions Dionne Brand was trying to express, sorrow, darkness, loneliness, reading it repeated the emotions, no matter how many times you read the poem everything will sound fresh and new, giving the emotions a new life. After this for every city you visit for every person you pass, you will have a different opinion

currents in the kitchen

For this experiment i worked with Gavin and Owen we all brought fruits, the fruits we brought were a orange, apple and a lemon. For this experiment we are using a voltmeter a nail to put into the fruit and  a couple wires to connect verything. My hypothesis is that the lemon will have the biggest charge, because it has the most citric asid. For second i am guessing it is going to be the apple becasue the orange has a thicker shell. After doing the experiment the we saw the lemon had the most charge with 7v, just like i thought. the orange came second with 3v and the apple came last with 2v. i also noticed that the circuit has to be completed with no gaps or openings i know this becasue if the circuit is open then the it cant flow all the way through the curcuit.
