Student Reflections:
1. Give three reasons why you would like this job (be specific):
a) Not super stressful and I know everyone my mom works with, so I know its a friendly work environment
b) Not a super stressful job to do
c) Relaxed job, you get a workout when moving pallets, everyone is friendly, you can use a forklift.
2. Give three reasons why you would not like this job (be specific):
a) Year end (September) rush because all the pallets get assessed and taken down from shelves to be counted.
b) Damage reports because there’s lots of things you have to know about the company and the item itself ex: Manufacturer, where its damaged, when it was damaged (Transportation or during handling), weight, size, product inside, and photos of the damaged item
c) Moving 22.68kg- 34.02kg of items by hand because you would only need a few of the items on one pallet, not the whole pallet.
3. Is this job for you? Why or why not?
Yes, because even though there are some negatives, they aren’t all that bad. The work I did today was relatively easy going and calm (They said it was a slow day so I might be wrong about this). Most of the time its moving pallets into trucks, or setting up some pallets for the next day shipments, or doing inspections of the product and making sure everything matches and is where its supposed to be. Also the job didn’t have a lot of stress with it, so it would probably be good for me. Therefore, I would do this job on a regular basis if I could
4. Explain the value of the TOKTW experience in relation to your ideas about your post secondary (after high
school) plans (education?, training?, travel?, work?).
Something good about the TOKTW day is that you can see what kind of jobs there are, and if you like that job, you can pursue it in the future or look for other jobs related to it. Before I didn’t think about working in a warehouse as a job, but now I see it as an okay job where I worked for today, so I might look into it more.
thanks 🙂
