English 12: Narrative Poem
Presto:
The carrot convinced me, however I was stuck in a cage
My stomach convinced me to steal the carrot
My partner came in like a Saviour of mine
I was hoping that he would offer me a bite of that carrot
I thought he would free me from having
But he offered me none and expected me to give a show
And a hungry man is an angry one
So, I gave him no performance
He pleaded me to give
But the rage in me could not give in
I manipulated his magic and all I wanted was some food in my mouth
He chased me like a bull that saw a red cape until he reached his final act
The nervousness surrounded the theatre and there was fear in all eyes
But I mocked and laughed
Looking from above my partner looked like a chicken trying to fly
I was still mad at my partner who expected me to give when I haven’t received
But when I saw the panic in my partner’s eyes, I felt like I needed to save the show
However, in many blind eyes, he flied like a courageous bird
They laughed and cheered
And I was rewarded with a carrot that satisfied my stomach that growled
My partner and I was recognized by many others
But instead of fame I wanted my carrot because that is only thing that gives me joy
