Nature VS Nurture Paragraph
Nature is the basic or inherent features of something, especially when seen as characteristics of it and nurture involves learning from the environment people are in and adapting to our situation and surroundings. The influence of nature and nurture is a heavily debated topic and they are both extremely important to view human’s identity however, nurture influences and effects humans’ identity more than nature. Nurture effects how people react with trends and wanting to be included by others, personality effected by surroundings, and how people were treated in their childhood. Trends are a general direction in which something is developing or changing. They influence people, particularly teenagers to change how they think, say, and do. Nowadays, music and fashion trends are being very quickly developed. Teenagers think it’s important to stay updated to the new trends because the more they know, the more it would be easier to communicate with people. Some people who are not updated to the new trends are left out in conversations and hard to say their opinions. This is and example of nurture because their music taste and fashion change throughout their development and the new trends. People nowadays are so adapted to the social media that they get to see the new trends and listen to the most recent songs that have been introduced. The new environment with the development of technologies, students that are adapted to this environment will surely think differently than students from 15 years ago when the environment was very different. Nowadays, schools encourage students to use technology for their research and teachers make use of technologies. This allows students, in this generation, to have another method to study or research. Whereas students 15 years ago, which we call “old school”, uses textbooks and the teachers were much stricter with academics. This shows that the changes in the society greatly impacts how people behave, wear, and how they think. Also, nurture also effects the personalities of people due to their surroundings. Although nature effects people’s personalities, it can be effected by nurture and change throughout their lives due to their surroundings such as the environment. For example, when you hang out with certain friends, some people’s personalities will become like their friends. Relationship is a big effect on personality changes. For example, although a person might have a very shy personality, while you meet someone that has a very bright and outgoing personality, the person would slowly change their personality to a more talkative person and they would gain confidence due to their partner. University’s average and evaluation are getting higher every year and due to this, students get more stressed and become very sensitive and anxious. They might not have a personality like this, however, because of the pressure and the high expectations, they feel stressed whether students are not someone who has a sensitive or anxious personality. This is considered a nurture effect because the students were unusually had this personality but because of their surroundings and the life that they are living, their personalities change. Lastly, people can be also effected by how they were raised. Their childhood can affect a lot to their identity. For example, in the short stories I Stand Here Ironing, a little girl named Emily as mistreated by her parent due to their poor economy. Although she was a bright and joyful child when she was born, she becomes more and more stressed, down, and lonely. She has never felt a mother’s love before because the mother was too busy finding a job. This story shoes us that nurture was a big part on Emily’s life and it can very well happen when children were mistreated from their childhood. Children that had a good relationship with their parents have a good relationship within their family and they are unafraid to express their love to one another. However, a broken family, shows a gap between the child and the parent. They don’t know how to communicate and share their feelings to one another. This shows that different child development can affect how they treat one another. In conclusion, nurture affects people’s identity more than nature because the strong environmental influences that separates people from their old identity. The adaptation of the environment, changes a lot of the behaviour, physical action, and personality.
