Agenda:

 

  • Reminder that your Visual Resume is due tomorrow night – we will review the turn-in process to TEAMS on Friday
    • remember your are saving your PP as a PDF – the PDF will be uploaded to a blog post (which you can keep private if you want), then you will turn-in the PUBLISHED blog post link to TEAMS
  • Intro to the short story unit – take some notes on the class discussion on a piece of paper or a Word document – title it ‘Notes on the Short Story’ and save it in your English 9 folder – Short Stories:
    • a. what is literature?
      b. why do we tell stories?
      c. why are stories important?
      d. What is a short story? …other than it is short
      e. How can we better understand a story when we read?
      f. Brainstorm about what is being communicated in this image?:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday – September 11, 12, 13

Wednesday:

  • last class day to work on the Visual Resume (see order of work below)
  • how to turn your PP into a PDF
  • MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN ENGLISH FOLDER WHERE YOU ARE SAVING ALL YOUR WORK FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT: THE POWERPOINT, PICS, WORD DOCS, THE PDF ETC.! – ALL SHOULD BE IN ONE PLACE

Tuesday:

  • We will continue to work on the Visual Resume
  • Steps:
    • the paragraph for the three prompts should be finished and ready for editing: proper capitalization, punctuation and sentence structure
    • decide on your colour scheme based on the connection to your personality traits – see the template of the PP
    • write the first page – the cover letter – edit… same as above
    • choose your images for the second page – items, places, activities that reveal aspects of your personality – these images can be personal photos or internet icons/images
    • don’t forget about your quotes: one that someone would say about you and one that reveals/explores your philosophy of life
    • take a good selfie or get a good head shot photo from your personal photos to use one page one and two of the Visual Resume

 

Monday is a shortened schedule day:

  • Homework check for the assignment Step One of Visual Resume
    • you have picked three of the prompts and made thorough notes on each
  • please play either of the following English Language enrichment games during the homework check:
  • Introduction to the writing assignment (the materials for this will be posted on the top RED tab of the English 9 drop-down pages on Monday)
