Digital Footprint

  • How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities? Give at least 2 examples.

Your digital footprint could affect your future opportunities in two ways: Firstly, it could affect you would be positive, such as the employer seeing your education or things such as volunteering, or winning a sports event for example.

You could have a positive digital footprint, but it could also be negative. Your social media posts could be seen by your employer, and they could be posts that are inappropriate or unprofessional, and that would likely change the view of your employer.

Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe.

A few strategies that I could use to keep my digital footprint safe would be to be mindful of what you post on your social media accounts. Don’t post anything that you will regret later.

Another thing you could do would be to make sure that you are checking what you leave behind after you are on social media. you could do this by searching your own name up in a search engine and see what shows up. You can delete the negative things that come up so it’s hidden from people.

Lastly, you can check the settings you have on your device, and see if they are set to a private mode that won’t give away your information, or won’t let other people view it.

What information did you learn today that you would pass on to other students? How would you go about telling them?

Some information that I learned today that I would give to other students would be that their personal information can be accessible by almost everybody. their future employers could access it, their friends, and even their parents.

However, there are some ways to protect your digital footprint as well. I would tell them to watch what they post on social media, and I would probably post something on social media myself to inform them about their footprint, because social media is an effective way to tell others about this.
