Air pollution has been permeating greatly throughout the US and has a detrimental effect on people. The article describes about how air pollution has killed an increase of 9700 people from 2016 to 2018. Air pollution is still on the rise today and factors affecting it is mentioned throughout the article. This has caught my attention as environmental concerns are continuing to increase from mass productions and innovations. Many people are unaware of the health concerns regarding air pollution and I feel that the article would allow them to take this issue into consideration. The increase in deaths demonstrate that people may still make selfish decisions and are self-centered. The long term consequences can not affect only the individual, but the entire society as well. Humanity cannot thrive when every single person is confined to their own beliefs; therefore, they need to be more openminded. Air pollution also relates to the recent new of celebrities and their private jets. Each flight reveals a vast amount of carbon emission which suggests that other people contribute large amounts too. The author portrays the significance of air pollution through the usage of parallelism. For example, a “decline in enforcement” is utilized to depict that there is a lack in taking action for pollution. Parallelism is constantly displayed throughout the article to emphasize the variety of pollution causes. People need to build a proper conscience to eliminate and consider the outcomes of air pollution as our health continues to deteriorate over the years.
