Edible DNA model

Today we had to make an edible DNA model!

Here is some key information that I learned today:

DNA stands for Deoxyribonucleic Acid

When stretched out, DNA will appear like a ladder that has been twisted. It is called a double helix

The sides of the ladder are the backbone that are made of sugar and phosphate (Represented by Twizzlers)

The rungs of the ladder are made of pairs of chemicals called bases

The four bases are:

– Adenine (A) Yellow Marshmallow

– Guanine (G) Green Marshmallow

– Thymine (T) Orange Marshmallow

– Cytosine (C) Pink Marshmallow

The bases can only bond with certain chemicals

Adenine and Thymine bond together

Guanine and Cytosine bond together

I had to create the DNA strand – TAC GTA TGA
