What brings us to see good through inexcusable darkness?

All over the news was the reaction of a little boy and his father. The boy seeing things as they were, after the Paris terrorist attack in 2016, the father comforting and the news attempting to find the view and perspective of someone innocent in the face of something dark and inexcusable. The little boy goes on to say that there are bad people and they need to move out as his father replies that France is their home no matter what and including that there are bad people everywhere. The boy continues to express that the bad guys are surrounding his home and the flowers that people are laying out on the streets aren’t helping anyone. His father responds, “They might have guns but we have flowers,” as he comforts his child and his child in relief feels much better. This video demonstrates that although we see all the bad that surrounds us we continue to hold on to the search for gentle, good, and kind things. Through despair we can find peace in the comfort that good is strong and sturdy as it never changes its way of loving others.
