Summary of Learning:

Before I started working on this assignment, I had no idea what to expect. Because of my lack of experience with Desmos, I imagined spending countless of hours frantically trying to come up with equations (there are so many types!) and being completely devastated with my results. Luckily, I got the hang of it pretty quickly and actually enjoyed playing around with the different tools provided.

A few challenges I faced in the beginning included: inputting the proper transformations needed for my desired product, not knowing how to add restrictions, and colouring. This became simpler once I began inputting various (and mostly random) types of graphs and restrictions to see how they change. Looking back at previous graphing that we’d done either in class or in the workbook was also beneficial because it helped me to regain my knowledge on how and what to graph.

As I went through trying to complete the assignment, I found it interesting to see the effects that one small update in an equation could create, and despite being frustrated at times, I was excited to see what new things I’d discover along the way. As my project got closer to completion, I became more confident in my abilities and the experience suddenly became enjoyable.

Overall, this assignment gave me a better understanding of not only graphing online, but also manipulating (transforming) each equation to my liking through using what we’ve learned in class to turn math into art! This has been a very unique way of demonstrating my abilities and I hope to get similar chances in future courses.
