Soldiers letter- Socials

Dear Jonathan,

The kids and I are all safe and missing you very much. How is everything with you? We are getting a little worried as we have been hearing that conditions are worsening to the minute. Conditions here are okay, the cost of food has gone up and it’s beginning to get hard to pay for food and necessities for me and the kids. And for the shortage of men, they are now hiring women to fill in those jobs. The only thing that is unfair about it, is that women get lower wages than men for the exact same job. Many women are also wanting to help out in the war as nurses. Mary and Susan were also wondering how Max and Samuel are? The War Measures Act I think is a good thing for us, as we are along to do things for Canada, such as: security, peace, defence and order. Hope your food and equipment is good over there. And we also heard that they are supplying boot for the men in the trenches? Let us know how that is going too. Really hope you can write back this time. Missing you a lot. The kids are saying hi. Okay I have to go now. See you soon.

Love,

Samantha and the kids.
