Spirit of India at the fair PNE. This was an event that took place on August 26-27, 2017. This event encouraged many people to come and participate. I actually performed at this event which was a really cool experience. It’s goal was to engage Indians scattered around Vancouver and surrounding areas. The event was open to everyone to share India’s culture and heritage.

2. An example of people discouraging cultural heritage:

This is an article by CBC News, it is on discrimination against aboriginal peoples, Muslims and people of colour. It states according to a survey taken in 2010, 28% of 2000 people in Canada faced cultural discrimination and intolerance. It talks about how 20% of coloured people face racism regularly.

Conclusion:

Based on my two samples I think Canada is a multicultural country. I think no matter where you are in the world there are going to be conflicts and discrimination. This servey could easily be outdated and I want to believe that things have improved since 2010, as a matter of fact, I actually do see improvements. People are having cultural festivals and broadcasting them. Poeple are also learning about different cultures and religions at school, and many places are opening up for tours.
