Question: How did France expand its control in North America?
France expanded its control in North America in several ways. Infrastructure such as lumber mills, tanneries and breweries were established. Fur trade profited many people and attracted others. The Jesuit priests converted many First Nations, so they would become more united. The seigneurial system gave the king of France total control over New France, and introduced a new government. Many habitants settled during this time and began farming. New France’s intendant bringing girls from France grew the population and encouraged marriages and children. Lastly, the courier de bois made ties with the First Nations and explored new lands. These are only some ways France expanded control in North America.
