Understanding my digital footprint
How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities?
My digital footprint can affect my future greatly. One of the biggest future opportunities that could be affected is my job/career. When I go into a profession, whatever that may be my boss or employer will if not always then 95% of the time Google search me. That’s the easiest thing to do, to find out if you are the right one for the job. And if some thing that is not appropriate or respectful comes up, chances are I wont be getting the job. Another thing that can be affected is friends and family. If one of my friends or a family member finds something online that shouldn’t be online they could stop talking to me and ignore me or worse tell others to end relationships with me.
Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe.
Some things you can do to keep your digital portfolio safe and appropriate are:
What other information did you learn that you would pass on to other students? How would you go about telling them?
I would just pass on to other students that be careful and well aware of the dangers of social media and your digital footprint. People can find out a lot of unessisary details about you, and example would be filling out the sign up to some website putting your address or number can be optional so you do not have to fill that out. I would first start by telling them to google themselves. People would probably very surprised as to what comes up. Some pictures that you haven’t put up there personally or all your account information or something else. When I searched up my name I was surprised to see my taekwondo sparring and pattern compitition scores. Nothing bad, but I thought that was interesting.
