impact your high school experience?

There are various ways for my digital footprint to impact my high school experience; it can impact it both positively and negatively. It could positively impact my high school experience by giving me opportunities such as scholarships, internships, job offers, etc. It could give me these opportunities because schools and organizations often look at your digital footprint to understand your character and learn what your achievements and talents are. If I have a positive digital footprint that displays my academic achievements, talents, and skills, that would give them a positive image of my character, increasing my chances of getting recruited or employed.
For example, if a college/university was looking to recruit me, they would look at my digital footprint to see my reputation online and get an idea of the type of student and person I am. If I work in or lead online communities and organizations that support positive things, and am involved in school (clubs, leadership, volunteering, etc.) that would tell them that I am a hardworking, passionate student and also a leader. Another example is, if I was looking to find a job, employers would not only look at my resume; they would also check out my online presence to get a better sense of me as a candidate. So, things like my social media accounts, comments, etc. (all related to digital footprint) can give employers insights into my personality, values, and professionalism.
My digital footprint could also positively impact my high school experience by giving me networking opportunities; engaging positively on social media and online communities opens up my networking opportunities. If I engage in an online art community, someone that has the same interest in art can connect with me. By engaging online and putting myself out there, I automatically broaden my networking and connection opportunities.
Meanwhile there are many positive ways my digital footprint can impact my high school experience, there are also many negative ways it can impact my high school experience. If I leave harmful comments and posts and involve myself in inappropriate activity online, that could lead my future employers and recruiters to think that I have a bad character and that I’m not eligible. This can result in being denied the job, a rejected application, or my overall opportunity being lost. Negative comments, posts, etc. can also harm my personal and professional reputation.

Self-Regulation
Should self-regulation policies be
implemented for academic
settings, such as schools, as
students are unable to regulate
themselves?
Yes, I believe that self-regulation policies should be implemented for academic settings if students are unable to regulate themselves.
In order for students to completely focus on their schoolwork and learning, it is important to ensure that all distractions are rid of. Although many students may claim that they are not in need of practicing self-regulation, there are undeniably some students that do need practice of self-regulation. Without guidance, students can easily develop a constant need for their cell phones. One of the many consequences that comes with the dependency on cell phones is a shortened attention span. Many students, including myself, struggle with their attention span. Especially with the rise of short-form content (tiktok, reels, etc.), short attention spans are commonly found in teenagers. A short attention span can greatly affect your learning experience because it causes you to have a lack of focus on tasks and lessons frequently. By affecting your learning experience, your overall school experience will be affected. Your grades and such will be at risk. Although I have shared the fact that I believe self-regulation policies should indeed be implemented, I would still like to point that the self-regulation policies should still allow students the privilege of using their cell phones occasionally. A suitable time they should be allowed cell phones is during the lunch period. I believe that it is important to not completely restrict students because entirely stripping away their cell phone privileges will only cause them to rebel against the policies and it could even worsen the issue with self-regulation as completely stripping students of their cell phone privileges can cause them to desire using their cell phones more.
Artificial Intelligence
How might artificial intelligence
negatively impact your learning
or school experience?
Artificial Intelligence can negatively impact your learning or school experience by causing you to depend on AI to formulate ideas for you rather than depending on your own ideas and thoughts. By becoming accustomed to using AI to assist you in your schoolwork, you can lessen your ability in critical and creative thinking. This happens because you exercise your thinking skills less frequently when you rely on using AI. When you use AI to generate ideas, you don’t use your brain to go through the process of brain storming and coming up with ideas. By skipping this process, you allow your brain to grow less, slowly limiting your critical thinking skills.
Using AI when doing schoolwork can be very harmful because it doesn’t allow you to learn properly. Since you are not using your own thinking skills to formulate ideas and thoughts, you don’t get to learn and practice the ability of critical thinking. This can greatly impact your learning and school experience as critical thinking is an extremely important skill to have, specifically in school.
It can also affect your school experience if you get caught plagiarizing via AI. Severe consequences such as failed grades (receiving a 0, no mark), expulsion, etc. will be faced.

I believe Kara did an excellent job with this assignment especially with her point about she believes in self regulation policies so that students won’t be glued to their devices. Also i think the photos on the page reflect the topics quite well
