Elementary Science Lab reflection

1.(Combustion)Sodium bicarbonate + Acetic Acid -> Carbon Dioxide + sodium acetate + water

NaHCO3 + HCH3COO = CO2 + NaCH3COO + H2O (No changes required, already balanced)

2.(Single Replacement) Calcium + Water = Calcium Hydroxide + Hydrogen Gas

Ca + H2O = Ca(OH)2 + H2 -> Ca + 2H2O = Ca(OH)2 + H2

3.(Decomposition) Dihydrogen Dioxide = Oxygen gas + water

H2O2 = O2 + H2O -> 2H2O2 = O2 + 2H2O

4.(Double Replacement) Calcium chloride + sodium carbonate = calcium carbonate + Sodium chloride

CaCl2 + Na2CO3 = CaCO3 + NaCL -> CaCl2 + Na2CO3 = CaCO3 + 2NaCL

In this activity, I think that teaching something to someone benefits both of us, because: 1. they obviously learnt something, and 2. it also strengthen your own knowledge on that topic, because you might also discover something new in this progress. In short, we both will learn something.

Through this activity, I found out that younger students have more creativity, they can also think in multiple ways and they also tend to actively participate in whatever they’re working on.

I like myself actively participating in this one hour, because I will know what I’m really doing, but not blindly or aimlessly completing it because then it becomes meaningless.
