Rob Gourlay- Rob was a a land agent. He decided to do a survey on farmers about how their lives were in upper Canada. He was shocked to find out that no one liked the government’s way of doing things or their laws. So he decided to write up a list of everything they didn’t like and petition it to get a change. Gourlay got arrested and people decided to take what he was doing into their own hands.

 

William Lyon Mackenzie- Mackenzie was an argumentive man who disagreed with modern reformers. Mackenzie started a newspaper and published articles that criticized the government and the famity compact. Members of the compact then ransacked his office. Mackenzie didn’t stop the paper but he did sue the people who attacked him. He ended up getting voted into the legislative Assembly years later.

 

Louis Joseph Papineau- Papineau was the leader of the radical reformers. He later on became the leader of Parti Canadien. Papineau submitted 92 resolutions to the govenor. After 30 years of attempting political reform, Papineau ans his patriots rebelled against the government.
