“We Remember – Liberation Poem”

Ive have been through tough times.

But not like this.

I’ve been on missions,

But not sent from the general.

Sent to liberate the camps.

I enter Dachau,

I am greeted by the smell of burning flesh.

I smell I will never forget.

I see a guard running towards me,

he trips and hits the ground.

The prisoners quickly pounce on him,

Tearing into his skin with knives.

As they try to fight back,

They fail and hurt themselves even more.

There is so much hate.

I will never be the same,

Since I walked through that gate.
