Golding believes people are born bad and that we have savage in all of us. Milgram’s experiment shows that people are willing to listen to authoritative figures only because they have more power over oneself. The experiment proves to us that when pressured by an authoritative figure to do a certain action, they will do it regardless of their beliefs. Just like in the book, where Jack orders his group to tie and beat up Wilfred, they followed his command even though Wilfred did not do anything wrong. This behavior is reminiscent of the experiment held by Milgram.
