Good Afternoon!

*Reminder:  Background Information Infograph is due Friday January 15th.

*Reminder: Wednesday Write Portfolio and Best Write is due on Monday January 18th.

*Reminder:  Poetry Test will be on Tuesday January 19th.  Please study the following…

-poetry terms (this should be review)

-rhythm and meter

-Poems: Because I Could Not Stop for Death, My Mistress’ Eyes, Shall I Compare Thee, I Hear America Singing, I Too Sing America, This is America, What Do I Remember of the Evacuation, Caged Bird, Walking on Both Sides of an Invisible Border.

-The test is a mix of  fill in the response, short answer, multiple choice, synthesis questions and a paragraph.

-There will be a ‘sight poem’ one that we have not studied in class.  This poem will have multiple choice questions and a paragraph response (so you may want to look at the paragraph writing template as a refresher…)

Novels:

Literary Analysis: the novels are class are studying touch upon the themes of conflict and  identity.  Your task is to find quotes in your novel that demonstrate examples of these two themes.

Light Yellow Paper: 

1) put your novel title at the top

2) Find and write 5 quotes in your novel up to where you have read so far that pertain to the theme conflict.

3) Briefly write down the significance of this quote in relation to the book/theme.

Light Pink Paper:

1) put your novel title at the top

2) Find and write 5 quotes in your novel up to where you have read so far that pertain to the theme identity.

3) Briefly write down the significance of this quote in relation to the book/theme.

*When you are done, touch base with your partners to work on your Background Infograph assignment.

*Prepare your role for your next Literature Circle Discussion on Friday January 15th.
