Good Afternoon,

*On Friday, we worked on our Friday writes then worked on our essay outline for “The Metaphor”.  For the weekend you were to work on completing the Intro and Body #1 of the Essay outline.

Essay Question:  Compare and/or contrast Ms. Hancock and Charlotte’s mother and how they influence Charlotte.

We will be starting our poetry unit.

*I want you all to reflect and brainstorm the idea of what Poetry means to you.  You will write down this thought/reflection on a doc. open on your devices.

-we will look at some definitions of poetry by T.S. Eliot and ee cummings

We will then read the poem “Eating Poetry” by Mark Strand and “Introduction to Poetry by Billy collins

-You will be divided into groups of three.  Each group will be responsible for 2 poems and will work on Office 365 on the chart you will create below:

*Analyzing Poems:  In groups, you will be going through the analyzing poetry resource and applying it to the three poems we studied:  “Walking on two Sides of the Border”, “What do I remember of the Evacuation”, and “Caged Bird”.  We will do this on larger paper so we can post/gallery walk
