In the second last week of the semester, and after the winter break, We learned about Systems of Linear Equations. Many of the past lesson are being used in this lesson. In my opinion this lesson is pretty easy to understand and needs some amount of patience. There are 3 ways to solve this equation. Graphing, Substitution and Elimination
Graphing *only use it if the numbers are small
Substitution – it is an algebraic method of finding solution for systems
steps :
1.pick one equation & arrange so it is either x= or y=
2.substitute it into the other equation (use brackets)
3.solve equation
4.substitute the number just found back into the rearranged equation
5.verify the solution
Elimination – making zero pairs
1. Find zero pairs
2. if none multiply one of the equation with the number that is needed to make an opposite coefficient and variable
3. solve the equation
4.substitute the number just found back into the rearranged equation
5.verify the solution
* when using elimination adding is easier than subtracting
* if there’s fraction you can multiply the whole equation using the same number as the denominator to make your equation easier
