Here is a diagram to help you with your chart.

Please remember, your ticket to enter class tomorrow (Wednesday, 25 May 2916) is a) your anatomical chart with 20 facts, and b) your preparation notes for the discussion.  The discussion will focus mainly on the question we started to look at today: is it worth the risk to take substances when the long term effects are unknown, and what are the ethics behind such a study?  Is this possible, or viable, morally speaking?  How would it work?

Friday, 20 May 2016: Compare, Critique, Problem Solve!

Please save this document to your computer.  We will be filling it in as we go through this unit.  Substance Package.

Before you fill out any of the Substance Package, please read though Xanax-Facts-.  In a group, compare in detail Xanax and Inhalants.  Which is worse?  Is that an appropriate question?  How could we resolve teen involvement or access to these.

Be ready to share out as a class!

Thursday, 19 May 2016: Beginning to Look at Inhalants

Please read through the following two stories.  Be ready to discuss each one.  Is this something anyone has heard of?  It is an area of drug use a lot of people not only aren’t familiar with, but not even aware of its drug categorization, or how lethal the consequences can be.

After discussion and researching into this drug, we will look at a short video that breaks down Inhalants.  Your homework will be to update your ongoing charts by adding a new section for Inhalants, which will be due tomorrow (Friday, 20 May 2016) before the start of class.  The expectation is you will have significantly more detail than the samples shown on the slides.

12 May 2016 Update

Hello everyone.  It seems there have been some technical difficulties regarding the last post which required a password to get in for today’s assignment.

Since there won’t be enough time to watch the video that was posted, please instead write a short reflection on what you think are Risk Factors for someone to become an addict.  This can be anything from age when exposed to drugs, past abuse, having parents who were addicts, social, mental, emotional, and physical contributers, socio-economic status, and much more.

Please email this to me by the end of today (midnight).

Monday, 9 May 2016: Starting New Unit – HEALTH!

Welcome to the Health Unit in Planning 10!  Our first section will be on the topic of Drugs and Alcohol.  Please first watch this video on the Science Behind Addiction.

When you finish the video, you need to write a response (minimum one paragraph).  It can be on anything you like about the video, such as a point you found really interesting, a point you agreed/disagreed with and why, something you have more questions about, etc.

This is due AT THE END OF CLASS as in 11:45AM.  That does not mean at lunch.  That does not mean at 4:12pm.  That does not mean in two days.  It means BEFORE YOU TUCK IN YOUR CHAIRS AND VACATE THE ROOM!

I have nothing but the utmost faith!  =)

Look forward to reading your responses.

Friday, 6 May 2016: Meal Planning Final Stages

Here is the video that we were unable to watch in class due to technical difficulties:

Keep this in mind while you are preparing the last pieces of your meal plan.

Your Meal Plan is due TODAY at the end of class!  You must include all three forms in your submission:

  1. Weekly Meal Plan.
  2. Grocery Shopping List.
  3. Final Pricing List for Groceries.

5 May 2016: Meal Planning

Process:

1. Pull up your Weekly Meal Plan sheet (the homework that was due today).

2. Transfer items from Weekly Meal Plan onto your Grocery Shopping List.

3. When you are finished Step #2, you can create a list of purchased groceries.  You need to determine roughly how much of each item you need in some cases to find out the cost.  Others will have a standard cost regardless of how much you need.  Here is an example: Groceries Purchased List Totals.

Here are links to some grocery stores where you can find pricing for your items! http://superdeliveryguys.com/ https://www.iga.net/Default.aspx https://shop.superstore.ca/?cid=bs_google_cpc_Branded-Core-Vancouver-EXA_superstore_e&gclid=CjwKEAjwxoG5BRCC7ezlzNmR8HUSJAAre36jKFMOE-9Px8HEEo-564esvKxgiAIyi5uz8WCx3VuHexoCQLDw_wcB

  2. Photos of Dishes: how did we get from ingredients to here?
  3. Read through the document: You’ve Got to Eat.
  4. Create a weekly schedule for your meals.  Meals must be generally healthy, and should attempt to loosely follow Canada’s Food Guide (try get at least one fruit and one vegetable in each meal).  Use the Meal Planner Chart to fill in your menu for the week.

Friday, 29 April 2016: House Hunting!

Great work the last few days on your house hunting project!  The videos are really coming together.

We will be presenting MONDAY, 2 MAY 2016.  Groups will be drawn at random to present.

Regardless of when you present, everyone MUST have their video submitted at the start of class (10:25am) on Monday (2 May 2016).  It needs to either be on a USB, or sent to be BEFORE the start of class so that we can play it off my device.

Have a great weekend.  Cannot wait to see the finished versions!
