My Planning sheet:
Questions:
- Was Mitosis or Meiosis Easier to Model? I think that mitosis was easier to model because meiosis consisted of two cell divisions for example meiosis 1 and meiosis 2. In addition to this, it consists of 4 haploid daughter cells, due to the two cell divisions. While during mitosis, there was only one cell division with only 2 daughter cells at the end, so it was much faster and quicker to model.
2. What was the Most Challenging in Making the Movie? The most challenging portion in making the movie was editing the video such as making sure that the video wasn’t too fast, so individuals watching could understand it efficiently. In addition, I also struggled in handing it in on time because since it’s almost the end of the year I was getting a bunch of other assignments in other courses. It was hard to time manage with everything although I managed to hand it in the end.
3. What was the Easiest Thing in Making your Movie? The easiest portion of making the movie was editing the video such as adding in the music in the background because it wasn’t as tedious as taking pictures of every single step during mitosis and meiosis. I also found that doing the mitosis portion was the easiest because I didn’t have to do as much steps as meiosis due to meiosis having two cell divisions.
4. How can you Improve your Movie? I would improve my movie by adding explanations to the steps in the background when the photos are being showcase in order for people watching to understand more of what’s going on.
5. What were the Positives or Negatives of Working by Myself? By working by myself, I didn’t have to rely on other people to do their part of their work and maybe the assignment wouldn’t have been finished at all. For the negatives, I had to do more work than other people who had partners to do this assignment with.
6. Why is Mitosis Important? In other Words, what is the Point of Cells Performing Mitosis? Mitosis is important in order for the body to carry out the functions in the body. Such as, there are cells for every single organ inside of your body and new cells need to be created due to old cells being damaged, broken, or old in the human body. There are lung cells, heart cells, blood cells, etc. which all reproduce asexually by mitosis and without being able to reproduce the human body wouldn’t be able to carry out all of the desired functions efficiently. Also, the cells in the human body carrying out functions need to be genetically the same and cannot be a different copy from their parent cells as they need to carry out the same functions as the parent cell did before.
7. Why is Meiosis Important? In other Words, what is the Point of Cells Performing Meiosis? Meiosis is important because it allows for new gametes to be formed that can be used to create a fetus with different genetic combinations from the parent. The new individuals as a result of the gametes coming together may have different advantageous traits in order to adapt to the environment. If gamete cells were formed by mitosis, then every single individual would be the same and a large number of individuals would die off due to nobody being able to adapt to the environment.
