Fashion is something that is constantly being talked about, especially while at high schools. Fashion is based on the opinions of people, the people apart of the community are what make up the trends.

Some chose to only wear what is comfortable, and others will choose to look their best. Some may wonder what is currently trending in fashion and why, it is important to understand that some could be limited to certain things with fashion.

Is fashion and how the way individuals dress significant though? “I would say that it does matter because it’s part of your identity and who you are, how you dress tells us something about you in a personal way,” said Mr. Barrington, a teacher at Riverside Secondary School.

The way people can perceive fashion can be quite conflicting.  Some people may say that fashion is only based on how expensive an outfit is, or some may choose how to express how they feel with their outfits.

Mr. Chan, a teacher at Riverside Secondary school, said that in current society bigger companies choose to pray on the idea that people will spend more and more money on fashion to try to fit in with the newer trends.  “I think true fashion isn’t really about money, I think true fashion is about expression of identity like Barrington said, so therefore it doesn’t really matter about how much it costs, its kind of up to you how much you want to spend on it,” said Mr. Chan.

Accessories such as rings and necklaces are seen as a big part of current fashion trends. These accessories do not have to be forged by valuable metals such as silver, but it is praised more if so.

Many people have a good sense of fashion but may be scared or too lazy to express themselves in public. With cases like this, these people may choose to wear a hoodie and sweatpants just for the sake of having something to throw on.
