New media compared to traditional is significantly more different as new media is a two-way interactive system, to which traditional media is only capable to be received by a person. New media is more technologically advanced with things such as websites, social media and streaming services, compared to the traditional books, movies and radio stations. This new media can also be described as fragmented in ways such as it can be used for multiple purposes on different devices by multiple people, it is also stated that, “The average American spent more than twelve hours a day with various media” (Donovan 2017). Fragmentation can also be described by using new media at multiple times of the day, spanning throughout the entire day usually all for different purposes. Knowing that new media can be very time consuming this can be very unhealthy for people, a good way to consume this new media in a healthier manner would be to try to limit a person from media consumption within the day and trying to find other things to do other than spending the entire day on new media. Some may say that the number of screens that a person could have in their eye could increase the number of media that they are consuming from the fact that,” Some research counts that hour you spend watching TV and looking at your smartphone simultaneously as two hours, one on each of the screens” (Donovan 2017). There can also be the possibility that some media websites could have fake information, meaning that precautions should be taken while researching. There are many ways of doing this such as checking the URL and carefully reading through articles. Authors could be making basic mistakes that could be easily checked, the author should also be researched on if the person seems suspicious
