Week 7 – PreCalc 11
This week in Pre-Calc we learned about discriminants. A discriminant gives information about the roots of the quadratic equation. We use to find the value.
- If it is less than 0, there are no real roots.
- If it is equal to 0, there’s one real root.
- If it is greater than, 0 there are two real roots.
Ex:
a=2, b=-7 c=3
step 1:
step 2:
step 3:
The discriminant isĀ 25, because it is greater than 0, this means that this quadratic equation has two real roots.
