This year, I learnt so much once again. The first major thing that I learnt that really made my life easier was that all essays do not need to be so long. This year and the years before, I always worried that essays would be more than 5 pages long and almost impossible to complete. It turned out that I was wrong. My essay this year wasn’t even 2 pages long.

The second thing that I learnt was that giving justification to your answers can be more important than the answer itself. There were multiple times in which I had the right answer, but couldn’t get full marks as I was not able to explain why.

The final thing that I learnt was that answering an inquiry question can be extremely intriguing. Until this year, I thought inquiry questions were something super annoying, similar to essays. It turned out that I was wrong on this as well. The inquiry question unit became one of my favourite units of the year. It really pulled my detailed ideas out of the brain.

My fondest memory of English 9 was when we had our book discussions. It was really cool to see how our group members had read the same book, but had totally different ides regarding the events. It was awesome to listen to those ideas and questions, and it was also awesome to have people who could relate to my ideas and answer my questions for me.

A tip that I would give myself would definitely be being able to justify your answers in short stories and poetry. My poetry analysis and short story Q and A’s are not too good compared to the other units. I would have to work much harder on these two units.
