What I did to find out the surface area of the orange is first, I cut the orange in half, then used the orange half’s circumference to trace a circle on a piece of paper. Second, I peeled the skin off and covered as much of the circles I can with the orange skin. It covered 4 circles so the area of those circles added together equals the surface area of the orange. I learned that surface area of spheres is equal to how many circles it can cover with the outside.
Thus SA of a Sphere = 4pir^2
