Interconnectedness:
Interconnectedness is, everything is connected to each other in some way, and everything has a purpose. Everything and everyone deserves caring and respect. The first nations understood they were connected to the people living the village, the land they were living on, nature, and the animals so they respected it. The philosophy “All My relation” teaches the people about relating to other people and themselves. The first nations respectfully and attentively listen to each other and helps each other to understand each other better.
One way Interconnectedness relates to the energy flows and the cycles of matter is, in the CO2 cycle, everything is needed and connected. The animals and fossil fuels release carbon dioxide into the air and the plants uses the carbon dioxide and releases fresh oxygen. But humans are releasing too much carbon dioxide into the air because of fossil fuels and now the earth is starting to warm up.
Interconnectedness relates to my experiment because we’re testing if the plant helps hold the soil together so it stops erosion, so it’s connected to each other. If plants do help stop erosion, then it’ll be more safe to put plants around huge hills so it doesn’t fall down, so it’ll be a safer environment.
Sustainability:
Sustainability is, the world being healthy and the living things being healthy and diverse. It also means, if there’s enough things to keep things alive and going. For example, growing food for the village to make sure all the people get to eat. The first nations used natural, healthy way to sustain their village and not hurt the environment because hurting the environment might hurt everything else.
one way sustainability relates to the flow of energy and the cycles of matter is, in the nitrogen cycle, the nitrogen in the atmosphere sustain the plants. the nitrogen goes into the soil and then the nitrogen gets converted by the bacteria in the soil and changes it into something that plants can use. It goes into the plants by the roots so it help them grow and make food by photosynthesis. The nitrogen is a part of the chlorophyll molecule so it’s need to create food and grow. People are changing the nitrogen cycle through because they are using fossil fuels and nitrogen fertilizer which releases other harmful chemicals which can cause acid rain and smog.
Sustainability relates to my experiment because the plant is helping the soil stick together so it doesn’t fall apart. Also, the dirt is sustaining the plant because it’s letting it grow and grab nutrience from the soil. So everything is sustaining each other and it’s important to keep everything natural.
