Part one: Mutation Story
Hello, I’m Haemophilia. I am a mutated X chromosome. Males are usually the ones that have Haemophilia because the males have a Y chromosome, so it can’t stop the Haemophilia. Females have two X chromosomes, so if only one is affected by Haemophilia, then that female carries Haemophilia, but is not affect by it. If the female has two X chromosomes that are mutated, then she will be affected by it. I make people bleed more longer if they get cut, or injured. Usually the blood cells called Platelets, and the platelets need different clotting factors that are in the blood. I make the person have less clothing factors so it’s harder for the Platelets to block the injury and stop the blood. There are mild Haemophilia, which only becomes apparent if you have a serious wound or surgery. There is moderate Haemophilia, which has internal bleeding around their joints. And then there is the severe Haemophilia, which joint bleeding is more common and serious.
I’m affecting this 9 year old child named Simon, he has moderate Haemophilia, and it’s affecting his life. Whenever Simon trips or falls down, if that fall affected his joint. Then he’ll have internal bleeding around his joints. So he has to be very careful and not run around as much as the other kids. If he does hurt is joint, then he has to inject a treatment called prophylaxis so it helps stop the bleeding. He has to learn how to inject the treatment by himself so he can avoid going to the hospital when he gets older. If we don’t treat it or forget to, then he could have really severe joint pain, stiffness, and the site of the bleed becoming hot or swollen. There are treatments for it, but it’s on demand. Even if I’m affecting his life, he can still have fun at home and with devices. It’s just affects him when he gets injured.
Part 2: The Making of Mutation Story.
When I was making this story, I needed to answer questions like: What is Haemophilia? How do you get it? What is the treatment for it? The familiar digital tools and the process I used was the ask, acquire, analyze, apply, assess because it is very similar to the other 5 words. I know the website I used was correct because the information was very similar to other websites I looked at. I think I did okay making this story, but I should of done this story a little bit every day instead of doing everything at the last minute.
