Part 1

Hi my name is Proteus. I am a syndrome inside Bob who is 4 years old. I am a negative mutation inside Bob’s body that causes an overgrowth of the bones, skin, and other tissues. This syndrome can affect everyone differently. But in Bob I mostly effect bones. In bobs body his legs, skull and spine are affected the most.

Bob was born with me, but the nurses and his mom and dad didn’t know. I didn’t start showing in till he was about 18 months. Now I have taken over his life. I have also affected his vision, because of me he is blind. Luckily I haven’t taken over him as much as some kids that have my brothers and sisters in them. Some kids have noncancerous tumors or deep venous thrombosis (which is a type of blood clot deep in your arms and legs).

How I got into Bob was because I got into the  AKT1 gene. Bob did not get me from his parents genes it his fully his genes that caused me. The gene that I got into helps to regulate cell division and growth and when a mutation like me occurs in the AKT1 gene ability of a cell to regulate its own growth is troubled, causing the gene to grow abnormally.

Bob can never get rid of me. The only way to help someone like Bob is to have surgeries to remove tumours but that could be risky and put there life in hands. Luckily Bob does not have any tumours

Bob doesn’t have a normal life, he doesn’t got to normal school and he isn’t a normal person. He is different. Some humans with Proteus syndrome could have a normal life span if their conditions are minimal. Unfortunately Bob will have a problematic life. his conditions are to strong because I effect his skull and other important bones and also he has more severe medical problems. His life span will not be like a normal humans.

Part 2

1.) What questions did you need to research in order to create your Mutation Story?

The questions I researched were: What causes Proteus, What does this Proteus do, How can Proteus be treated, What is the life span of someone that has Proteus.

2.) What New familiar Digital tools did you try to use as you worked through this project.

If I found a resalable website I would bookmark it so when started writing my story I could just go to my bookmarkers and all the recourses would be in one place. I also used One Note to write down the main facts I needed to research and ones I found them I would put the research under the write main fact.

3.)What was the process you used to investigate the topic?

First I would but down the main facts in One Note that I needed to find. Second I bookmarked all the good resourses. Then I put all the smaller facts under one of the main facts. Then finally I Put them all together and made a story of how I am a mutation in someones body.

4.) How did you verify and cite the information you found?

I looked on more than one website and looked if information was similar, than I picked the best three websites with the most information.

5.)How did the process of completing this challenge go? What could you Have done better?

The process went fairly well. Other than a couple technical difficulties with the Wifi that made it hard to research it all went smooth. I could have made the story more interesting to get the readers attention.
