On April 19th we had a Google hangout on air with Karishma Bhagani, an NYU Student from Kenya. Karishma created a water purifier to help clean the water in her home Kenya. During the Google chat we asked her any questions about her process and her creation its self. I felt like the experience was great for our class to learn about young adults wanting to change the world and help others. She was a very nice girl and had wonderful feed back to our questions.

As a  group we came up with some questions:

1.)What were the challenges you faced?

2.)What inspired you to make the purifier?

3.)Did you have anyone else who helped you with the creation?

Answers

1.) Some problems Karishma faced were the physical image of the purifier, for example steal did not work and wouldn’t purify.

2.) What inspired Karishma was mostly her friends and family. She told us that she would think about her home in Kenya and how hard it was to find water and how everyone would struggle. The struggle back home inspired her to make a change for her home an other people around the world.

3.) At first Karishma worked on her personal project and then as time went on and she had more of a plan, she had support with her school programs at NYU and of course her friends and family.

Some other information I learned was what motivates her. She told us that just giving back to the community motivates her and also she told us that just looking back at her home Kenya motivates her to make a change.
