Dragon’s Den Solution Fluency Project – The Thermonitor

In your group Define/Discover:

Restate the problem.

Our group’s problem was our concern for the COVID-19 Pandemic, and the health of safety of those who may be affected by it.

Research how this problem has been solved in the past.

In the early stages of the pandemic and  up to now, we have had people check people’s temperature with a thermometer. We also have the multiple vaccines fighting the problem currently.

In your group Dream:

Consider the problem solved. What would it look like?

Obviously, without the worldwide pandemic, life would be much easier, as the boundaries and precautions put in place to prevent the spread of the virus would be lifted. Things like masks, social distancing, and travel restrictions would be lovely to not have. That is why I believe our problem is a very important topic.

In your group Design/Deliver:

What is your plan? Make it happen.

Our plan was to create a circuit that measures your body temperature that would open a door you if your temperature was at the normal bodily temperature, or if it was at an irregular temperature (signifying a fever), tell someone inside the building to check up on them/give them a COVID test. It will help to stop the spread by preventing those who may be infected from entering public spaces.

In your group Debrief:

How could you have improved your plan?

I think we could find a way to somehow measure someone’s temperature more accurately, because measuring someone by the touch of their finger may not provide the most trustworthy measurement.

  1. Thanks for your explanation of how you used the solution fluency to address issues with measuring temperature. Good work discovering a solution to your issue and citing your sources. More media showing what your solution looks like would be crucial for your “Deliver” section. In your “Debrief”, make sure you consider what you di well and what you could improve on.
