Gender Equality Issues Eng9a

The article I chose is about gender equality in the world cup. It involves professional female soccer players. According to a study in 2018, 49 percent of professional female soccer players do not receive salary, even if the industry receives more than $500 billion each year. About 87 percentĀ  of players will finish their career before age 25, due to low pay or lack of pay. It talks about how in 2019, the FIFA Women’s World Cup promised a mixture of joy and disappointment for the teams that qualified. However, the struggle with unequal pay continues outside the soccer field. I chose this because soccer is a big part of my life, and I was surprised that the soccer industry treated women this way. I believe that all genders should be treated equally within the sports community and outside it. There is no room for mistreating people for who they are or who they want to be. It relates to the story because it shows how women can be mistreated in almost every aspect of this world. It goes to show how much we ignore this everyday of our lives and how we’ve been brainwashed to do so. I hope that one day, we can overcome this barrier and we can all share this planet in peace.
