Animal Farm Propaganda Poster

Propaganda Poster

As one can imply about this poster, the pigs have taken over with control and Mr. Jones is on the ground being whipped. The irony in this is that in the beginning of the story all the animals were being punished and now the pigs, with their power, are making Mr. Jones and his wife have fear of coming back. In this poster, the propaganda techniques used are fear, glittering generalities, bandwagon, and plain folk. This poster creates fear for Mr. Jones if they would happen to come back. When Mr. Jones was on the farm, he rarely fed the animals and whipped them while he was having a good life and getting drunk sometimes. Glittering generalities in this poster are the big slogans, or quotes. An important quote in this story is, “Four legs good, two legs bad”. This quote depicts the fact that humans are hated by the animals and any animal is a comrade. At the bottom of the poster it says, “He Will Return”. This is stating that if Mr. Jones does return to the Animal Farm, he will be punished. Bandwagon is used because the pigs are important animals in this story and important people or animals can have big influential impact on one. Having three pigs standing there displays that they are being followed and they have the power right now. Since the pigs are important, others will believe this is important too. This is almost like saying, “The pigs are in, so should you”! These pigs are important in this farm but just remember that these pigs are just typical animals or in literary terms the pigs are just plain folks. Plain folk is used because maybe in other farms, the farmers are abusing the animals as well and having these normal animals impacting their own farm may impact other normal animals to join the rebellion and rebel against their farm.
