In the Fall by Steve Cutts
The video In the Fall by Steve Cutts starts off with a man watering his plants on a rooftop. He looks around fifty or so, he has a cigarette in his mouth and no hair on his head. He slips on a banana peel and falls off the roof. The man yells and is very frightened as he falls through the air. As he’s falling, a movie projecter appears and tells him he is about to die. The projector then starts to play all of the best moments of his life, starting from when he was a baby. The film shows the man with a huge smile on his face at the beginning of the film, and throughout most of the film too. It’s not until the man is working at a desk job for a while where his mood goes grey and in all of the “best moments” of that time, he was not even happy. The film ends, and you see the man go from very frightened of dying, to accepting it with a grin. I think this video shows that humans find happiness in doing what they love, and humans need to be happy to love their lives.
