Praise Song for the Day

Meaning; About a whole country with different people that are building their nation. Kind of like an ode to their ancestors. Recognize the different people who lead different lives and make the fabric of the country and coming to get together to celebrate the big moment.

Imagery and figurative language

Paragraph;

Throughout the poem, it mentions different groups of people who make up the country the Caucasians, African Americans and Chinese. The poet uses imagery to describe the people of the nation’s past, ‘who laid the train tracks, raised the bridges’ (line 27)and ‘picked the cotton and the lettuce’ (line 28). The poet uses these lines to show the diversity of the country and to celebrate their differences so they can get through past problems. The poet also uses metaphors, “All about us is noise… Each one of our ancestors on our tongues” (line 4-6). I think the poet is trying to talk about how we all have a voice, and how our perspectives and beliefs are based on our ancestors. To finish off the poem that the poet writes, “In today’s sharp sparkle, this winter air, anything can be made, any sentence begun. “ (Line 40/41). He is finishing the poem off on a positive note, that anything can happen. In today’s sharp sparkle could possibly be a positive change because of the new president.

Silent Narrative Poem; La Luna

In my small boat with the guardians of me

Sailing along on the silent sea

They argue about who I should be

They cannot agree

I’m a shadow split in two

Mimicking their every move

I don’t know what to do

I’m a mime trying to prove

Mesmerized by these luminous stars

Woken up from a daydream

Being told what to do

Following them step by step

In their footsteps is where I belong

An enormous big bright bundle of light

Comes crashing down

I emerge from the shadows

As it illuminates my face and my mind

I have an idea.

Whilst everyone is in awe

I turn my hat around and take charge

I grab my hammer

And smash the star

The key to my inner self

I fall with the shattered star

To the feet of acceptance

Gathering the dim stars

Shaping the minds of my elders

I have found my independence

Technology Video

Nowadays everyone is using technology. It allows us to better our education, health, and it also helps us become more efficient. The evolution of technology has helped us develop and transform into a better society. It has become a necessity in our everyday lives, and it is very beneficial to us in many ways. Technology has evolved the way we think, act and go about our day. Think about it for a minute, almost everything we do involves some form of technology. Your morning might look a little something like this. You wake up from the sound of your alarm clock, you get up and turn the lights on, you change into your clothes, you go to our kitchen and make some oatmeal in a pot, after you eat you turn on your tap and brush your teeth. Just in our everyday morning routines we use a lot of technology. Now imagine having to do all of that without any at all.  Oh you woke up late, you’re scrambling to do everything in the dark, you have no clothes to wear, you cant brush your teeth, and have to walk to school. Also its raining today, once you finally walk all the way to school you have to stay outside because guess what, theres no such thing as a building either. Technology doesn’t just make our everyday tasks easier and more efficient, it also improves our education, economy and our personal relationships. A Study from Pew Research Centre found that in 2015, 64% of people from developing nations say that the internet is a good influence on education. That is constantly being proven to be true by the use of the internet making information accessible to everyone. Overall technology allows us to do everything more efficiently and easier, it also lets everyone have resources at the tip of their fingertips.
