What is the Difference between
$2^3$ and $3^2$
Well $2\cdot2\cdot2$ is 8 and $3\cdot3$ is 9
What is the difference between
$(-2)^4$ and $-2^4$
$-2\cdot-2\cdot-2\cdot-2$ is 16 and $-2\cdot2\cdot2\cdot2$ is -16 so they are switched from negative to positive and positive to negative.
