Falling

Life is a meteor

Always falling, falling fast

Speeding through the darkness of space

Until it collides into the ground, broken

As if life was going up an ominous staircase

Your eyes are closed

Feeling exposed to the mistakes that have been made

But, despite all the gloom

Bright shadows appear

There is spark, there is light

Call upon Him,

Break the anchor latched around your soul

Stand up. Go out. Sprint.

Grasp the life that you want,

Chase it down,

Tie it up and control it because you can

“Don’t you fall now”

Persevere, although pain is real,

So is hope…

The poem Falling by Henry Kim is a poem speaking about hope and second chances. This poem signifies how hope can be found in the darkest times of life and explains how giving up should never be done. The inquiry questions that I thought best corresponded with this poem is, “Why is perseverance important in life?” and “In times of trouble, what gives us hope?” This poem really opens your eyes to see that life is hard but pushing back is the best option. It demonstrates how perseverance will help you in the long run. This poem does not tell what gives us hope but teaches when the possibility to jump back is necessary. It shows that when darkness is about to conquer you must bounce back and reclaim your life. This poem can relate to everyone in the audience because it is based on problems which is something that everyone has. I definitely feel that the poet it trying to help you visual a depressing life that can make a comeback, therefore if a life like this can be happy so can yours. No matter how bad it gets life can always return to good with the proper mindset.

  1. Great Job Henry – all the elements (your video, your poem, your picture, your performance of the poem, your allusions) came thematically together. Good job on the rationale as well.
