The assignment was to research and choose to create a podcast on either Indigenous social issues, or on a Canadian Residential School of your choice. My group and I chose the latter. I worked with Sabrina and Jasmine on learning about the St. Augustine’s Indian Residential School.

Reflection:

Completing this assignment was fairly easy. In doing the research, we listed out the required topics and information that was asked of us, then worked as a team to find information on all of the topics. My 2 group members got through the basic information on the school fairly quickly, but we all helped in finding anecdotes. For the recording, it was a bit tricky at first because we found the microphone had trouble in catching our voices if one of us weren’t sitting directly in front of it. The sound of another class sitting in the library leaked into the quiet room very easily as well, making it a bit hard to focus on reading the script smoothly. But, other than that, recording wasn’t very difficult, and we were able to finish recording in 1 block. To communicate my learning to my group members, we set up a shared document with notes of what we had found/learned from our research. Then to communicate our learning to our teachers, we made a podcast, like they had asked us to.
