1: How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities?
Your digital footprint will always follow you wherever you go, no matter what you post wether it is good or bad it will be with you the rest of your life. Your future employer will most likely look you up or research you. If they find something inappropriate or mean they won’t want to hire you but if they find kind or positive messages and pictures they will want to hire you.
ex: If you and your friend started a spam account and posted bad, inappropriate pictures and comments it will be there for everyone to see like future friends, family and future employers.
ex: You are looking for a job and you have an interview with you dream company you are super excited to go and very hopeful to get the job and as you go into the meeting your employer is looking at your blog on your blog you have positive messages and great pictures. Your employer is very impressed and it helps you receive your dream job.
2: Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe?
There are many different acronyms like THINK to help remind you to stop and reflect on what you are going to post.
- You can imagine what your parents or family would say or think when they see your pictures.
- You can try do imagine what your friends would say if they saw the picture or comment.
- Picture yourself in 20 years and think will I be proud of my post?
3: What information did you learn that you would pass on to other students? How would you go about telling them?
I learned that it is important to be aware of what you put online for future opportunities. I think that everyone should have at lest one lesson about how to have a safe and positive impact on the internet.
